PAINTING STUDIO Poem I FEEL FREE written by Stephen Craig Rowe
Introduction: The other night after work I was chatting with my friends Sassene and Jeremy. Sassy out of nowhere asked me to turn on my web cam and point it at my television. It was late and I had no idea of what she had in mind. So I turned on the web cam and pointed it at my television screen. Sassy and Jer had their cam off so that I could not see them. Sassy then typed, " Now turn on closed captioning so that Jer and I can watch your television." I had never turned on closed captioning and was having a moment or two with the remote for the TV while typing to Sassy in Messenger. Actually I was very frustrated with the remote and about to abort the little project when I pressed the correct key and Closed Captioning appeared on my TV screen. Sassy then typed, " Wow you got it, now surf the channels." I did so until she typed,
" Hey, stop! We like this show." I don't remember what show it was. Only that it was a late night comedy rerun. I was thinking this is a bit odd but rather nice. My dear deaf friends from California are watching my television in Peoria, Illinois. Pause for a bit.......Then Sassy typed, " Man, you are so easy! "
I could tell she was laughing and I smiled.

I FEEL FREE

In the dreams of Angels
Liberty
Sings
Her wings
Ring around All.
A shimmering
Silent Grace
Awake
In Humanity.
Born in the Stars
and
Live
in Mind
and
Flesh.
Freedom
Is Liberty's Song
Strong
silent words
So Dear
For the
Future.
I
Feel
Free.
As ever be well. With love,
Stephen Craig Rowe
